IMPORTANT QUESTIONS

Question No. 1: “Tell me about yourself.”

I started working at Picker International as a final test technician. Picker eventually became Philips Healthcare . From there, still at Picker, I changed position and became a technical instructor teaching domestic and international service engineers here and in other countries. The last position I held was in service engineering, where I was a project coordinator concentrating on the hardware and software, serviceability aspects of Computed Tomography scanners. I also assisted service marketing with customer issues. At this point I am developing myself to move into the areas of quality and sustainability.

Question No. 2: “Where do you see yourself in five years?”

I want to secure a position as a program manager  with a forward thinking company that incorporates best practices to enhance their core values. As a program manager I would be in a position to promote improvements to the benefit of the customers and the company.

Question No. 3:  “What are your weaknesses?”

In my last position, I wasn’t able to develop my negotiating skills as I would have liked. I’d really like to be able to work in a place that will help me get better at honing the “give and take” needed in this area.

Question No. 4: “Why were you laid off?”

Due to the current economic downturn, Philips Healthcare implemented across the board cost cutting  policies. I, along with a number of other very competent people, were downsized during that period.

Question No. 5: “Tell me about the worst boss you ever had.”

I feel very fortunate in the respect that none of my former bosses were awful. Having been trained to administer Clark – Wilson 360 evaluations does give me the insight to know which personality types I work best with and how to determine someone’s professional style. The style I find the most difficult to work with is one where communications are unclear.

Question No. 6: “How would others describe you?”

There are three phrases that I consistently receive from my colleagues that sums that up. 1) You don’t hide anything. 2) You really know what you are doing.  3) Whenever I need to get something done, I come to you.

Question No.7: “What are you most proud of?”

Personally, my children. They’re great. Professionally, when people want to put together a project team, they want me on it.

Question No. 8: “ What can you offer me that another person can’t?”

I’m the best person for the job. I know there are other candidates who could fill your position, but my passion for quality and excellence sets me apart from the pack. I am committed to always producing the best results in the most efficient  manner. This is demonstrated by my participation in many quality teams and my use of six sigma methods to monitor current processes and determine better processes when needed.
